Dr. Shiroma Sathyapala is Forest Health & Protection Officer at FAO leading the development and implementation of technical projects and programmes on forest health and resilience in collaboration with external partners. With the support of regional coordinators, Shiroma provides technical leadership and facilitates activities of Regional Forest Invasive Species networks in Asia-Pacific, Near East, Africa, Europe and Central Asia, and Central America. Prior to joining FAO, Shiroma was the Manager Plant Health Standards at the Ministry for Primary Industries in New Zealand and before that, a scientist at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
